Biophysics in Drug Discovery - Not Just a Black Box

3/27/2020
AstraZeneca
The Darwin Building, 310 Milton Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WG, United Kingdom

The workshop will deal with challenges in quantitative Biophysics when applied in small and large molecule drug discovery. It is supposed to open up a discussion of challenging data and how to improve them. It is not supposed to be an introduction to the techniques but rather a discussion of persisting problems from a user’s perspective when applying the techniques (such as SPR, ITC, NMR, etc) and recognizing them.

Biophysics of the Biological Cell: Studying the Physical Interactions of Cells with Their Environment for Better In-Vitro Models

3/23/20
Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
University City, Coyoacán, 04510 Mexico City, CDMX, Mexico

The LaNSBioDyT National Lab in Mexico is aiming at developing theranostics solutions based on the synergy between basic, fundamental science and technology. In many problems that the Mexican National Healthcare Institutes are facing nowadays, new in vitro cell culture platforms are necessary to better understand the biology, physiology and cell interactions responsible for diseases or drug effectiveness. Hence, our teams have started developing technologies that can integrate all physical signals required to better mimic the natural microenvironment of the cells to improve the subjects of study and the solutions that may be offered.   In this Symposium, we aim at presenting recent process and ongoing studies in the fields of mechanotransduction, in-vitro co-culture models like organs-on chip, 3D platforms, integrated in situ biosensing and physico-mathematical models of single-cell and collective behaviors.
