BPS Student Chapter Events

Biophysics is the quintessential interdisciplinary field, bridging the physical life sciences. This powerful connection is what gives the field its breath and vitality, but it is important to the field for its tremendous diversity to be better communicated and understood. That’s why, as student chapters, it is important for you to host events designed to inform, educate, and entertain your campus and local community. By registering your event as a BPS Affiliate Event free of charge, we will be able to assist you by advertising your event and highlighting your efforts to our members.

Biophysics Week

Biophysics Week will take place March 18-22, 2024. This week is a global effort to raise awareness of the interdisciplinary field of biophysics, celebrate its accomplishments, and make connections within the community. All BPS Student Chapters are required to host one Affiliate Event during Biophysics Week. This event can be big or small, virtual or in-person. Some ideas of events include:

•    Host a Guest Lecturer
•    Set up an Awareness Table at your local school highlighting your major and/or department
•    Plan a local meet-up of biophysicists
•    Schedule a lunch seminar showcasing students research in biophysics
•    Teach a lesson on biophysics to a local high school class
•    Conduct a lab tour or tour to show off your school’s major facilities

How Do I Host My Own Affiliate Event?

To register a Biophysics Week Affiliate Event, please click here. We will be collecting event registrations through Biophysics Week, but the earlier you plan your event, the more the Society can assist with getting the word out. Register your event by February 1, 2024 to be included in additional marketing efforts (event registration information must be FULLY COMPLETED for BPS to advertise it).

We encourage you to use the Biophysics Week 2024 logo to promote your event and remember to take and share photos, use #BiophysicsWeek, and enjoy!
