BPS members attending the Annual Meeting are encouraged to showcase the artistic side of scientific imaging by entering the Biophysical Society's annual The Art of Science Image Contest!

Submissions are accepted from November 1 to December 2, 2019, for the 2020 Annual Meeting.  A panel of judges select the 10-12 final images that will be displayed at the Annual Meeting, and all submitters are notified via email in January with those results.

The finalists’ images are displayed on posters in the Exhibit Hall during the Annual Meeting's normal exhibit hours (10:00AM-5: 00 PM Sunday-Tuesday) for all to see, and attendees vote on their favorite images. The three images with the most votes win. First place prize is US$500, second place is US$300, and third place   US$200. Winners are announced on the Tuesday of each Annual Meeting at 4:00PM in the Exhibit Hall.

Judging is based on scientific significance, originality, and artistic and/or visual impact of the images. Images submitted for competition may be obtained using any imaging technique, i.e. SEM, TEM, AFM/SPM, X-RAY, sub-resolution light microscopy F(PALM), and other, or obtained by combining multiple images into one artistic image. All images must have a connection to biophysical research.
