BPS members attending the Annual Meeting are encouraged to showcase the artistic side of scientific imaging by entering the Biophysical Society's annual The Art of Science Image Contest!

Submissions are accepted from November 2 to December 1, 2020, for the 2021 Annual Meeting.  A panel of judges will select the 10-12 final images that will be on display during the virtual Annual Meeting, and all submitters are notified via email in January with those results.

The finalists’ images will be on display during the virtual meeting for all to see and attendees can vote on their favorite images. The three images with the most votes win. First place prize is $500 (US), second place is $300 (US), and third place is $200 (US). Winners are announced on the Thursday, February 25 during the virtual Annual Meeting.

Judging is based on scientific significance, originality, and artistic and/or visual impact of the images. Images submitted for competition may be obtained using any imaging technique, i.e. SEM, TEM, AFM/SPM, X-RAY, sub-resolution light microscopy F(PALM), and other, or obtained by combining multiple images into one artistic image. All images must have a connection to biophysical research.
