Special emphasis is placed on the voices of early-career researchers, PhD students, and students who represent the future of biophysics in Ukraine. Through scientific talks, discussions, and personal perspectives, the event demonstrates how biophysics continues to contribute to medicine, technology, and education. This meeting is both a celebration of scientific excellence and a message of resilience, solidarity, and commitment to global biophysical science.

This year’s program features a record number of public lectures, laboratory tours and practical activities highlighting diverse subfields of biophysics thriving in Lithuania. While the primary audience is high-school and undergraduate students, the events are open to everyone interested in science. Workshop in the MIDST of Accessing Long Time and Large Length Scales: Coarse-Grained Simulations

This is a continuation of our Dialogues in the Midst workshops which has been a Biophysics Week event since 2018. In this edition, the theory session will introduce the transition from atomistic molecular dynamics simulations to coarse-grained (CG) models and discuss how coarse-graining enables accession to longer time and larger length scales. The session will include an overview of the Martini force field, basic mapping strategies, and the use of GROMACS for the system setup and simulation. An introduction to ligand parameterization within the Martini framework will also be provided.
In the hands-on session, participants will set up and run coarse-grained simulations using GROMACS. Practical exercises will include trajectory analysis, dynamics evaluation, and an introduction to backmapping from coarse-grained to atomistic resolution.
