BETHESDA, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Filippo Mancia, of Columbia University, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, USA has been named the recipient of the Society’s 2027 Award in Membrane Protein Biophysics. Mancia will be honored at the Society’s 71st Annual Meeting, being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from February 20-24, 2027.

Mancia will receive the Award in Membrane Protein Biophysics for leading pioneering work on the structure and mechanisms of membrane proteins, with a particular focus on lipid-interacting membrane proteins.

“Through his work, Filippo has become a leader and an integral part of the membrane protein community worldwide. His groundbreaking work in membrane protein structural biology has transformed our grasp of essential biochemical processes and established him as a true pioneer in the field,” said BPS President Karen Fleming of Johns Hopkins University. “It is my honor to recognize his outstanding achievements and relentless pursuit of scientific excellence.”
