BETHESDA, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Thayaparan Paramanathan, of Bridgewater State University, USA, has been named the recipient of the 2027 Excellence in Undergraduate Education Award. Paramanathan will be honored at the Society’s 71st Annual Meeting, being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from February 20-24, 2027.
Paramanathan will receive the Excellence in Undergraduate Education Award for distinction in academic research, undergraduate mentoring, support for primarily undergraduate institutions, and service to the Biophysical Society.
“Thaya has shown his commitment and dedication to educating and mentoring future generations of biophysicists throughout his career,” said BPS President Karen Fleming of Johns Hopkins University. “This dedication to research and to the future generations of biophysicists embodies the very spirit and purpose of this prestigious award.”
About the Award – The Excellence in Undergraduate Education Award recognizes a faculty at a primarily undergraduate institution (PUI) for excellence in academic research and mentoring.
