Dorothy Beckett to Receive 2022 Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award

ROCKVILLE, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Dorothy Beckett, PhD, Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational Biosciences (BBCB) within National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), has been named the recipient of the Society’s 2022 Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award. Beckett will be honored at the Society’s 66th Annual Meeting, being held in San Francisco, California from February 19-23, 2022.

Beckett was chosen to receive the award for serving the Society energetically and thoughtfully in many leadership roles, bringing a fierce and outspoken commitment to equity, breadth, and opportunity for all members of our worldwide Society in all fields of biophysics. This award, established by the Biophysical Society and recently renamed in honor of former BPS Executive Officer Rosalba Kampman, recognizes service in the field of biophysics and contributions beyond achievements in research.

“Biophysical Society members not only engage in cutting edge scientific research, but also in advancing biophysics as a field and publicizing the value it brings to the world,” said BPS President Frances Separovic, University of Melbourne, Australia. “Dorothy dedicated her professional career to biophysics and now to public service through her work at NIH. It is an honor to be able to recognize her work and dedication and thank Dorothy for her years of service.”
