ROCKVILLE, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Hugo Lachuer, PhD, of the Institut Jacques Monod (CNRS) and Nadab Wubshet, PhD, of the University of Michigan and Harvard University, have been named recipients of the 2025 Outstanding Doctoral Research in Biophysics Award. Lachuer and Wubshet will be honored at the Society’s 69th Annual Meeting, being held in Los Angeles, California from February 15-19, 2025.

Lachuer will be recognized for discovering that spatial pattern of lysosomal exocytosis is controlled by membrane tension gradients and Wubshet for outstanding contributions to the study of the mechanics of actin cytoskeleton in cells and encapsulated in giant vesicles.

“Hugo and Nadab jointly represent the most outstanding work being done by doctoral researchers at this time,” said BPS President Gabriela Popescu of the University of Buffalo. “I am delighted that Hugo and Nadab are each receiving the Outstanding Doctoral Research in Biophysics Award in its inaugural year. They have both excelled in their respective biophysical studies and have been prolific publishers at an early stage of their careers.”
