This Biophysics Week, we're highlighting some of the outstanding members of our Student Chapter program. Today, we'll hear from Yu Shono, a 2rd year Pharmacy major at the Sanyo-Onoda City University Student Chapter.
What inspired you to study biophysics?
I became interested in biophysics because it allows us to understand biological systems using the principles of physics. I was fascinated by how physical laws can explain complex processes in living organisms.
What do you think makes the study of biophysics unique?
Biophysics is unique because it combines ideas from multiple fields, such as physics, biology, chemistry, and mathematics, to study life at a deeper level.
What skill have you learned in your studies that you find useful in other aspects of your life?
One important skill I have developed is analytical thinking. Learning how to break down complex problems and approach them logically has been useful both in academics and in everyday decision-making.
What is your dream career?
I have not decided on my future career yet, but I hope to explore different interests during my student life and pursue what I become most interested in.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I have not conducted research yet, but I hope to gain confidence as I begin doing research in the future.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about studying biophysics?
I think it can be helpful to stay curious and be open to learning different fields. Biophysics connects many areas of science, so exploring different perspectives can make studying it more interesting and enjoyable.
