Autodesk Research

3/6/2017
Create a molecular virtual reality experience in 60 seconds using Autodesk Molecule Viewer. This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to mobile virtual reality (VR) using Autodesk Molecule Viewer, a free, web-based molecular visualization tool for customizing, capturing, and sharing of structural content. Participants will experience a short VR lecture on rhodopsin photoactivation, receive a tutorial on how to create their own VR molecular walkthroughs, and have an opportunity to walk all workshop participants through their own VR content. The goal of the workshop is to unlock the potential for VR to revolutionize education, outreach, and research in structural biology and related fields. Participants should bring a laptop and a smartphone. Free smartphone VR hardware will be distributed to all. A sneakpeak at workflow here: autode.sk/mvvr

Institute of Biomedical Technologies-ITB, Universidad de La Laguna

3/06/2017
"Be bioelectric!" We will host a group of kids from local schools to show them how bioelectric signals are essential to make our muscles work. We will show them that electrical signals from our cells can be measured and quantified in real time, from living tissue. For this purpose, we will use BackyardBrains devices that we have built in the lab (https://backyardbrains.com/products/spikerbox). Additionally, we will give the kids a tour of the laboratory and show them our equipment and lines of research in ion channel biophysics.
