Become a Biophysics Week Ambassador!

Help get the word out about what biophysics is and its significant scientific contributions by hosting an event during Biophysics Week. Take this opportunity to celebrate the work of biophysicists around the globe! This is a unique opportunity to give your institution and your field significantly greater visibility.

You do not need to be a member of the Biophysical Society to be a part of Biophysics Week. We are pleased and excited to welcome the participation of all individuals and organizations who are enthusiastic about the field of Biophysics.

Ideas for Hosting an Event

Not sure what you could do? Here are some ideas to consider:
  • Host a Guest Lecturer
  • Set up an Awareness Table at your local school highlighting your major and/or department
  • Plan a local meet-up of biophysicists
  • Schedule a lunch seminar showcasing student research in biophysics
  • Teach a lesson on biophysics to a local high school class
  • Conduct a lab tour or a tour to show off your school’s major facilities
  • If you have a related event already planned in February or March 2018, please consider making it a part of the Biophysics Week instead.

Register Your Event

To register an event please fill out the form below so we can advertise the event in press releases, advance announcements, and online. We will be collecting events through Biophysics Week, but the earlier you plan your event, the more the Society can assist with getting the word out.

Submit Event

We encourage you to use the Biophysics Week 2018 logo to promote your event and remember to take and share photos, tweet #BiophysicsWeek, and enjoy!

Biophysics Week 2018 at IBB

Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, University of Tehran

Tehran, Iran

World Biophysics Week provides an invaluable opportunity to show and convey the wide application of interdisciplinary biophysical knowledge in the understanding of the living systems, their needs, malfunction, treatment, environment and etc. to a wide spectrum of audiences. Development of state-of-art fast, precise and online instruments has made it possible to monitor biological systems at atomic, molecular, cellular, tissue, organ and whole body levels in real time. Accordingly, Biophysics has formed a platform to implicate Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer, and various Engineering and Clinical sciences to monitor and reveal the machinery, mechanisms involved, cause diseases and means of treatment and fabrication of bio-mimicking gadgets. IBB with more than four decades experience in this field organizes different lectures, lab-tours, scientific excursions and onsite and remote meetings to further familiarize and educate the interested people and to form a wider network of collaborations.

Outstanding Position of Biophysics

University of Tehran, Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics

Tehran, Iran

9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Considering the progressing developments of monitoring, measuring, analysis and computational means, our knowledge about living systems has been widely nourished by different basic sciences including physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology. One of the unique fields of studies, biophysics, has managed to involve all the above sciences in both integrative and interdisciplinary manners in order to address and solve different problems living systems including human being are facing on the globe today. This is why the platform of the World Biophysics Week has been wisely defined to provide everybody at every level of expertise, knowledge, career, involvement, and of any nationality, age, sex, and etc. to get together, familiarize themselves with the subject. The ultimate task is to seek the applicable shortcuts in solving the problems and inventing novel approaches to complement or to substitute treatments defined by the classic medicine, pharmacy, and environmental sciences.

Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics with about four decades of experience in teaching and research in the field of Biophysics, is the oldest and one of the most developed research centers in Iran that recognizes the capability, applicability, and outstanding potentials of Biophysics in different fields and is thus dedicated to form a platform for all those who might be interested to enter into the world of Biophysics.
