Visiting Scholars Program (VSP) at Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (formerly NCI-Frederick)
Objective: To provide a unique opportunity for scientists to access the intellectual capital and state-of-the-art facilities of the only federal national laboratory in the United States devoted exclusively to biomedical research, the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (formerly NCI-Frederick). Visiting Scholars will be integrated with teams of scientists at the Frederick National Laboratory who: support basic studies in the biological mechanisms of cancer and AIDS; conduct translational research leading to new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches; and advance preclinical studies leading to first-in-human clinical trials.

NCI Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Program (NCI Omnibus R21)
Objective: The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Exploratory/Developmental Grant (R21) funding opportunity supports the development of new research activities in all areas of cancer research. The R21 mechanism is intended to encourage exploratory and developmental research projects by providing support for the early and conceptual stages of these projects. These studies may involve considerable risk but may lead to a breakthrough in a particular area, or to the development of novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications that could have a major impact on a field of cancer research (biomedical, behavioral, or clinical)

NCI Small Grants Program for Cancer Research (NCI Omnibus R03)
Objective: To support small research projects on cancer that can be carried out in a short period of time with limited resources. The R03 grant mechanism supports different types of projects including pilot and feasibility studies; secondary analysis of existing data; small, self-contained research projects; development of research methodology; and development of new research technology.

Alexander von Humboldt Professorship
Objective: To enable award winners to carry out long-term and ground-breaking research at universities and research institutions in Germany.
Who May Apply: Nominations may be made by German universities; non-university research institutions may also submit nominations jointly with a German university.

P&G's Focusing on Industrial Recruitment of Scientific Talent (FIRST) Conference
Objective: To give top early career scientists a broad overview of research in industry as well as an opportunity to network and interact with P&G managers.
Who May Apply: Primarily intended for African American, Hispanic, and Native American doctoral and postdoctoral scientists from STEM disciplines who want to learn more about industrial research careers. Other qualified candidates, including foreign nationals, also will be considered for participation. Applicants must have a doctoral degree or expect to receive one within 9-12 months of the conference date.

Keystone Symposia Scholarships and Underrepresented Minority (URM) Scholarships
Objective: To fund up to $1200 in conference costs for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the life sciences. Awards are made based on the quality of a submitted research abstract. Season-long and other opportunities include: Keystone Symposia Scholarship; Underrepresented Minority (URM) Scholarship; Keystone Symposia/ABRCMS Scholarship; and Student Registration Discount.
