2012 Video Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2012 What is Biophysics? video contest. 

1st Place and Members' Choice: "Collagen: The Fabric of Life," by Bram Van Hoof, Henry Amuasi, Cornelis Storm, Nie Ngo, Johan Holwerda and Koen Pieterse, all of Eindhoven University of Technology
2nd Place: "Assembly of Human Paillomavirus Virus-like Particles," by Matthias Wolf, Harvard Medical School
3rd Place: "What is Biophysics?," by Andy Wowor,  University of Connecticut 

Background Information

The Society's Membership Committee challenged members to make an original video, up to five minutes long, illustrating what biophysics meant to them.  Videos were encouraged to be educational, creative, and above all, to promote biophysics!   Winning vidoes may be showcased at the BPS Annual Meeting and featured on the BPS YouTube channel!  Videos will be judged on accuracy, creativity, educational value, and promotion of biophysics.

Winners also receive:

  • First Place: $500
  • Second Place: $250
  • Third Place: $150
  • Members' Choice Award:  $200
