Student/Postdoc Travel Award 

Submission Deadline: March 8, 2022

NINDS, NIH is providing funds for travel support to a limited number of students and postdocs attending the meeting. Students/Postdocs wishing to be considered for a travel award should complete the application form which requires endorsement by an academic supervisor and an abstract of your poster presentation. Since funds are limited, applications will be ranked by the relevance of the abstract to the conference and by the academic merit of the applicant.

Eligibility Requirements

The student/postdoc application must be presenting an abstract at the Molecular Biophysics of Membranes meeting. 

Required Materials

1. A copy of the abstract submitted for presentation at the Tahoe BPS conference. 

2. Distinct answers in a bulleted format to each of the following questions (1 to 2 sentences for each item is sufficient): 

  • Explain your role in the research project. 
  • At what stage are you of your education/program? 
  • An explanation of financial need and the importance of winning such an award. 
  • What is the long-range goal of your research? 
  • What is the significance of your research? 
  • What is the most novel aspect of your research? 
  • What is your advisor’s name, institution, and department? 

3. A letter of recommendation from an advisor (must be on institutional letterhead with signature). 

  • Where is the student/postdoc in his/her degree program? 
  • Role of the student/postdoc in project development.
  • How is the student/postdoc supported (training grant, research grant, other)? 
  • Rate the student/postdoc compared to others at the same stage. 
  • Identify any special considerations relating to need or appropriateness of a travel award.

Underrepresented Minority (URM) Travel Award

We are also pleased to announce travel/registration awards to support scientists from underrepresented minority (URM) groups, including trainees and early-career faculty members. Please complete the application form to apply.
