Citizens of the United States

Any U.S. passport holder can enjoy visa-exempt entry into England for up to 180 days for whatever purpose if:

  • He or she has a passport with validity of at least six months after entry; and
  • He or she has a confirmed return air ticket or an air ticket and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat reservation for departure;
  • He or she has no criminal record

Outside the United States

  • Unless you're an EU national or from a nation without visa requirements, you need a UK Visa to enter England. 
  • Visa applications must be filed with the embassy or consulate of England.
  • Visas are valid for stays of up to 180 days.
