Biophysics
is the rapidly growing branch of biology that deals with the molecules
that do the work of the cell: their structures, how they work as individual
molecular machines, and how they communicate and work as parts of complex
systems. These issues represent the future of biomedical research,
as evidenced by the recently devised National Institutes of Health Roadmap
for biomedical research in the 21st century (http://nihroadmap.nih.gov/)
and by the diversity of
careers
rapidly opening up in Biophysics.
The Biophysical Society, through its Minority Affairs and Education Committees, has a commitment to introducing underrepresented minority students to the excitement of careers in Biophysics. Because of this commitment, the Society offers several services to facilitate communication and collaboration between Historically Minority or Minority-Serving Colleges and Universities and Research One Universities:
