International Travel Award
Application Deadline: October 5, 2008

To assist students and a small number of more senior scientists, the Biophysical Society has limited funds available for travel fellowships to the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society. Each award may be applied towards roundtrip airfare to the Meeting. The purpose of these travel fellowships is to foster and initiate further interaction among biophysicists and scientists working in countries experiencing financial difficulties.

The following eligibility requirements must be met:

  • The applicant is performing research in countries experiencing financial constraints.
  • The applicant should be the presenting author.
  • The applicant must not have been funded by the Biophysical Society during the previous year.

The following materials are required at time of on line submission by each applicant:

  1. Copy of the abstract submitted for presentation at the Meeting.
  2. A short (1 page) Curriculum Vitae containing the most relevant publications and description of current research interests and goals.
  3. A list of any previous meetings attended and sources of support.
  4. A request for partial or total support and rationale for request.
  5. Students: Two letters from sponsors who are familiar with the student's research progress.
    Senior Scientists: A self-written letter outlining the importance of such an award if granted.
