	Alberto Diaspro of the Italian Institute of Technology and Society member since 1996 has been appointed President of the International Society on Optics Within Life Sciences (OWLS).
	Ken Dill of University of California, San Francisco and Society member since 1979 has now been named Director of the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology at Stony Brook University.
	Ralf Metzler of Technical University of Munich and Society member since 2004 was awarded a Finland Distinguished Professorship from the Academy of Finland.
	Stephanie Tristram-Nagle of Carnegie Mellon University and Society member since 1979 was awarded the 2010 Charles E. Kaufman Award in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
